Additional notes/observations: They are both wistful songs even though one is sad and one is sort of happy. But there are also similarities in the verse melodies and a bit in the choruses. However this is more pronounced in the version that was done by "Christian" on the CD "Coolidge 50" than it is in the original Shaw Brothers version, so it could be that Christian was channeling New Order in their version.
