The opening guitar riff to Am I Wrong by Norwegian duo Nico & Vinz (released April 2013) is reminiscent of the opening guitar riff to the Police's Message in a Bottle (released September 1979), not to mention the vocals sound like Sting. Similarities include: key (only a half-step apart, AIW: Cmin/Eb; MiaB: C#min/E), chord progression (AIW: Cmin-Ab-Fmin-Bb, vi-IV-ii-V or min6-4-min2-5 pattern; MiaB: C#min-A-B-F#min, vi-IV-V-ii or min6-4-5-min2), and arpeggiated eighth-note rhythm. Am I Wrong also bears some resemblance to The Outfield's Say It Isn't So (vocals and guitar mostly), and the verse melody at (:55) is similar to the verse melody for Phil Collins' Something Happened On The Way To Heaven (AIW: "If one thing I know, I'll fall but I'll grow" and SHOTWTH: "We had a love, we had a life"). And finally, part of the chorus melody to AIW (1:01) is similar to the chorus to Boyz II Men's End Of The Road (:58)--AIW: "Am I wrong, for thinking that we could be something for real" VS EOTR: "Although we've come to the end of the road").
